Paddle Performance was founded in 2000 and is directed by Saskia van Mourik.  With a passion for paddling that began at the age of 9, Saskia competed for Canada in both slalom and freestyle as a junior and senior athlete.  In 2007 Saskia retired from competition after a successfully 2006 season that was capped by winning the Canadian Whitewater Slalom Championships and the Pan American Slalom Championships in Madewaska, Ontario.  Her experience as an athlete has been instrumental in her desire and enjoyment of coaching, instruction and leadership training.  In 2000, Saskia was head coach of the Canadian Junior Whitewater Slalom Team.  Since 1998 she has worked with athletes on both the Alberta and BC kayak teams and is currently leading the Alberta Whitewater Association as Technical Director of program and paddler development.  Saskia is an instructor trainer for Whitewater Canada and facilitates development in the areas of instruction, leadership, safety and risk management.  A Diploma in High Performance Coaching and Level 4 NCCP certification, Occupational First Aid Level 3 and a Bachelor of Kinesiology is what has enabled the direction of Paddle Performance.   For a complete resume of Saskia please contact Paddle Performance
